Sneak Peek!

I was excited to get an email from Marirosa today with a sneak peek at our portraits. I cannot believe how nice these look b/c I was really worried she'd have little to work with! She said she's still working on others, so I can't wait to see them!

Portrait Session

We were originally scheduled to have our portrait session last week, but rescheduled to today. The weather forecast earlier in the week was warm and sunny, probably around 78 degrees. Then on Thursday, it was 80. Yesterday- 85. But today it was NINETY-THREE degrees according to our car thermometer. So, our outside shots weren't so fun, especially b/c we were all sweating with red faces. Plus, did I mention that Libby refused to nap today? And her crying kept Drew up, so he was cranky, too. Poor babies were so hot, they started saying, "Inside, inside?" I felt terrible b/c it was one of those days and we were almost 30 minutes late to our session, cutting it short since there was another session after ours. Our photographer, Marirosa, was so nice and really worked hard for us. I'm just hoping that Photoshop really IS as good as she says it is. ;) We should get proofs in 7-10 days, so I'll keep you posted...

First Crawfish Boil

On Saturday we went to our friends Amy and Pete's house for a crawfish boil. Yumm-oh. It was Libby and Drew's first ever, but neither liked it. I suspected they wouldn't at this age, but it was worth a try. What they loved was looking at the live ones with Daddy and the other kids that were there. They are really imitating everything, so it was interesting to see them watching the other kids, who were between 4 and 11 years old. It's really cute to watch. I am so disappointed that we forgot our camera! Does it tell you something that I was more upset about having a boring photo-less post today rather than capturing our children's first experience with their roots?? ;) To dress it up a bit, I'm gonna add a photo from someone else's boil so you get the gist...

We were supposed to have our portrait session with Marirosa on Sunday, but the weather was iffy and Drew was crabby with a runny nose. So, we've rescheduled for this Saturday. I'm excited b/c the weather is supposed to be nice and we are going to a nice location called Rust Manor House and Nature Sanctuary. My friend Shannon recommended Marirosa to me as her family took their portraits with her last fall. They are actually on the website now! So, hopefully we'll look pretty enough to be on it next. ;) You know I'll keep you posted...

Happy Easter!

We had a great Easter weekend. It was nice and sunny, but cold and windy. I can't believe we had coats on for the egg hunt! We dyed our eggs Friday night. For some reason, Libby didn't want to be near the vinegar. Drew loved it and named each egg for everyone. He even made the extra orange one "Nana's"! It rained all day Saturday, so we just hung around. On Easter Sunday, we went to church, stopped at Cox Farms to see the Easter bunny, play on the train, and see the chickens and chicks. We came home and had an egg hunt with our next-door neighbors. L&D enjoyed picking up just 1 and focusing on getting the candy out and eating it! Here are some photos...

2-Year-Old Checkup

Monday was Libby and Drew's 2-year-old checkup and Dr. Shannon is pleased with how great they are doing. No problems or concerns at all and both are developing quite well. We're happy to report that Drew is now close to the 10th percentile for weight, so that's progress! He's been off the charts, then below 5% and now up to 10! Both only needed 1 shot, but it wasn't so bad at all. Libby cried for about 1 minute, but Drew didn't at all. He just said, "Cold," when the nurse was all done! Notice how Libby has passed up Drew in height-- that's a first!

Here are their stats:

Libby
Height= 35" (75th percentile)
Weight= 26.6 lbs. (50th %ile)

Drew
Height= 34 1/2" (50th %ile)
Weight= 24.2 lbs. (5-10th %ile)

Happy 2nd Birthday, Libby and Drew!!!

I'm sorry it took me a few days to get this post up, but we had over 200 photos to sort through. The monkey party was a big hit! We had beautiful weather and even though we couldn't get the big moon bounce rental because of the winds, our friends Steph and Andre saved the day by bringing over their own moonbounce. Almost all of our guests attended and had fun jumping, playing, having cake and ice cream, and trying to break open the monkey pinata. Libby and Drew's presents from us were their first Big Wheels. They have been having so much fun on them already. They got to open tons of other presents and have been having a great time with ALL of the new toys. They are still asking to wear those monkey party hats even today, so that tells us they had a good time at their party!

Dear Libby and Drew,
I cannot believe you are now 2 years old! Where has time gone? I still feel like you are inside my belly kicking and moving all around. When I think back to all that we've been through to have you as such healthy and happy children, I can't help but thank God for the most precious gifts He could give us. You really ARE our 2 miracles and we won't ever take that for granted. These 2 years with you have been the hardest in my life, but they have also brought so much joy and excitement as I watch you grow into my precious little boy and girl. I hope you will always be close and rely on each other during those happy and difficult times. You'll be going through many things right at the same time, so I also hope that Daddy and I can keep up with all that you'll achieve in your lives. Already, you've learned how to sit up, crawl, walk, talk, laugh, kiss, hug, eat with spoons, drink from a straw, take off your shoes and socks (and diapers, too), dance, run, bounce, sing, ask for help, and even say, "NO," too. Let's see what the next several years bring us as you keep growing and developing!

All my love,
Mama

We finally met the Webbs!

So we started going to New Life Christian Church a couple of months ago and I found out that my fellow MoM and blogger, Peggy, also goes there. She usually attends the later service, so we hadn't been able to meet in person yet. Well, this Sunday after I dropped off L&D at the child care (Kidszone), I walked right into her with Brandon and Faith and Zach, too! I couldn't believe it!! She sat next to us and it was so strange seeing her right there in the flesh when we've only been virtual friends for about 18 months or so. She's so adorable and really sweet, too. Plus she has some really cute kids. ;) Hopefully we'll get some play dates going b/c it is outrageous that we live in the same area and yet had never met until now! Here's a photo of us from our cell phone camera-- not the best quality, but it'll have to do...
