For Tracey and Russ

Tracey and I met years ago when we worked at the same elementary school. I had just moved to Virginia at the time. We hit it off and have been close ever since. I absolutely adore her and Russ is a true gem. They are the most thoughtful, caring, sensitive, FUNNY, and just all-around awesome people I know. They have gone through 3 failed rounds of IVF in the past year and have their blood test tomorrow to see if this round (with THREE embryos implanted) worked. I've been praying for them like crazy and hope they are blessed with at least 1 baby. Here's hoping for good news tomorrow! I'm keeping them in my thoughts tonight and hope you will, too. I even made them this wordle tonight (I love that website-- so cool).

Update on Previous Post

I am excited to update my previous post about The Power of Branding by McDonald's. Drew came home shortly after that saying, "Hamburger, two-ninety-nine; milk 90 cents." Ok, what?? We finally asked their sitter and it turns out that she has a McDonald's play cash register set that says all these things when you order. So, THAT'S where all this is coming from lately! Phew... ;)

Birthday Party Weekend

Columbus Day weekend was fun, especially since the weather finally got cooler and we had 2 birthday parties to go to. The first one was for Charlie Balderrama and it was at Chuck E. Cheese. We hadn't brought Libby and Drew there yet (probably b/c of the germophobe inside of me), so I prepared for the animated show with the big characters, Skee Ball (my favorite), and Tron. Well, let's just say that it has completely changed since we were kids. I felt like I could have a seizure at any moment with all of the blinking lights, noises, and over-the-top stimulation going on! Libby and Drew literally sat at the table and just stared around for about 10 minutes. Then they had cake and pizza and were reared up to go burn some energy. I played Skee Ball, but am sad to say I'm not as good as I used to be. But we did end up with 231 tickets at the end, so we were excited to get a good prize from the little store they have. Um... not so much. We got 2 crazy straws a cheapy stretchy heart bracelet for Libby and a baseball bracelet for Drew. And these cost 240 tickets!!! Luckily, the guy let us have them without paying extra. But we did get into the photo booth there and got this cute picture:

The next day was our next-door neighbor Kate's party. It was a girl pirate theme. I made her a hot pink and black tutu and a leotard with a rhinestone pirate iron-on. It came out really cute! I need to get a picture of her in it. It was a fun party. They had a face painter and sparkly tattoo artist there. I thought Libby and Drew wouldn't be too interested in that. But turns out they were. We made a door-hanger as a craft and of course had cake, too. It was a fun day!

I Upside Down!

I forgot to post this when it happened in mid August, but just came across the photos again. I was sitting in the living room when I heard Libby say, "Mama, look... I upside down!" Naturally, Drew had to follow along!

My "Other" Angel

Today in the car after full bellies from Cici's Pizza Buffet...
Libby: "Mama!" (with love)
Me: "Yes, my little angel."
Drew: "Mama, I your OTHER little angel?"
Me: "Yes, baby, you are my angel, too!"

Beware of Hand Sanitizers

I use hand sanitizers ALL the time, especially because of my job with preschoolers. I've put it on Libby and Drew's hands a few times if we don't have wipes available when we're out. Anyway, I got an email at work today about the dangers of children ingesting hand sanitizers. Apparently the alcohol in them can be fatal to toddlers if they ingest 3 squirts of it! I checked it out on snopes.com and found that it is true. Take a look at the article and be careful with that Purell! ;)
