We went to the mall on Friday, hoping to beat the crowds for portraits with the Easter Bunny. Not so much (as far as the crowd thing). It was packed and we were about 10th in line. Darrell and I kept planning our game plan... okay, you tell them we want package "D", don't fall for any upselling like the free keychain if you buy 100 photos... I'll take Libby, you take Drew and get them out of the stroller quickly, but carefully... Take the paci out and bib off at the very last second... don't let them see the Easter Bunny too much b/c they might get scared and cry... make sure Libby sees you at all times since she is still having separation anxiety... tell the lady to snap one as soon as we put them on the E.B.'s lap b/c we only have a second before the tears start flowing... get out of the way quickly, but most importantly... don't look like a jackass making all those goo goo gaaa gaaa sounds and dancing around in front of 1000 people to have your babies try and smile. Ours never fall for this trick, so get over it!
We followed the plan exactly and yet neither babies cried. Perhaps Libby wasn't afraid of sitting with him b/c he wasn't a person. She kept staring at his ears for a second, but then looked at us and we got the perfect shot of them looking like 2 deer in headlights:

Darrell and I treated them to their first serving of chicken nuggets from Chick-Fil-A right after. Those 2 monkeys inhaled 6 nuggets, a fruit cup, and about 10 crackers. They even figured out how to use the teeny tiny straw from the juice box. Note to self-- need sippy cup in diaper bag. I didn't feel so bad giving them fried fast food since these nuggets seemed to be real chicken meat. Anyway...
Speaking of the sippy cup saga... I'm happy to report that both babies are really starting to get the hang of it. I figured out a big component... I have always given them room-temperature filtered water when making their formula. Now I was trying to give them a new cup with ice cold juice or water from the fridge. I gave them room-temp. water and they gulped it down. Duhhh--- why didn't they just tell me to do that 3 weeks ago??
You are Hilarious! Your whole story of how to get them onto the Easter Bunny is so true. I do that to Jason all the time! Gave me a good laugh.
ReplyDeleteAnd they do look like they are in a state of shock on the Easter bunny - but no one is crying and thats good! We didn't even think of the Easter Bunny this year - we are so not on the 'ball'. Happy Easter!
You have described it perfectly, that is too funny! What a cute picture, that easter bunny has a very deer in the headlights look about him - Libby & Drew just look cute. :)
ReplyDeleteThat was sooo funny! It was so similar to our story. I see we must have gone to different malls. We went to Dulles.
ReplyDeleteFaith has no problem using her sippy cup, I still need to work on Brandon. He wants nothing but the bottle!
Hilarious EB story! We were the Jack-asses trying to get our babies to smile and look at the camera at the same time. I like the look of your EB...ours looked like a creep. Yours is very Peter Rabbit looking. :)
