Libby's Successful Surgery

Libby had surgery this morning to remove a dermoid cyst above her left eye. She was so brave and did great. She awoke from anesthesia a little groggy, as to be expected, and after a nice nap at home, immediately began signing "eat" since she hadn't eaten since the night before. I knew she had recovered! Actually, she tried signing "eat" at the surgery center before she went back into the OR. I felt so bad having to tell her no, but one day she'll understand.

Auntie Shan, Hannah, and Jackson (our dear friends, neighbors, and former landlords) babysat Drew and he had the time of his life. They are actually dog-sitting a golden retriever and apparently Drew went crazy laughing at him so much. But it doesn't mean we'll be getting a dog anytime soon!

Once we were all back home, Libby and Drew played for hours today, laughing and giggling and just having fun. The surgeon said no bath tonight, so they went to bed a little early and didn't seem to mind since they were both pooped! The steri-strip will fall off on its own in a day or two and the stitches dissolve on their own.

Here's a "before" photo taken just last week. See the lump on the outer corner of her left eye (under the eyebrow)?

Here's a cute photo of her in her little hospital clothes. She looked adorable in her top, pants, socks, and ankle bracelet! We only had our cell phone as a camera, so the quality isn't so great...

And here is a photo of her once we got home...

After lunch and a good nap and she's like her old self (with one less bump on her eye)...
